Memorial Day 2024

The 2024 Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27th. The flyer for the event may be found here. Memorial Day is a solemn holiday for honoring our Armed Services personnel. The parade and ceremony are coordinated jointly by the Clayton Elks Lodge #2132 and the Clayton Veterans Committee. Both organizations serve veterans in numerous ways. The Clayton Veterans Committee is proud to serve veterans and their families in our community. Information on veteran’s benefits is distributed during various events around town and links to useful services can be found on our website at claytonnj.com/veterans-committee. The Committee supports veterans in other ways through the Committee’s non-profit, public charity affiliate, Clayton Veterans’ Remembrance, Inc., with projects such as the commemorative brick walkway which leads to the Veteran’s Memorial in front of Clayton Borough Hall. Funds raised through the sale of these engraved bricks help support college scholarships for civic-minded Clayton High School graduates. Committee meetings are held in Borough Hall on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. and are open to all to attend.

Clayton Elks Lodge #2132 conducts and supports many activities for veterans including a veteran's breakfast, supporting the "Run for the Fallen", assisting the Veterans Home in Vineland, and supporting the Army of Hope and Gold Star families in NJ. In 2023, the organization wrote a grant and received funding for helping veterans with energy assistance.

Both organizations are to be commended for their dedication to helping veterans.
